Abbey decided the day Claire was born she no longer wanted to wear nappies (Claire was literally an hour old and Ab asked to use the toilet). We, like Leah did lots of nudey time as as soon as we'd put knickers on her she'd wee cos it felt like a nappy I spose?
It only took her a couple of days to get the hang of what was going on and within the week she was no longer in nappies at all during the day.She also was dry at nights for a few months, but that's all regressed now and she is back to weeing every night again .

So maybe waiting a couple of months til the weather warms up a little would be good as then she can run around nappyless and not get cold

I never did any training. LOL. I'm too lazy for that. Sophie has always hated nappy changes so she has been bare bummed around the house since forever. So I was pretty good at her 'ready-to-go' signs. I would tell her what she was doing when she was doing it/about to do it, then it sort of morphed into 'do you ned to poo/wee?" and she would tell me yes or no, then it was 'do you want to use the toilet?" and she was telling me yes. She was doing poo on the toilet consistently from about 21 -22 months, and just around 2 years she decided she wanted to wear undies. She stil has days when she wees in her pants but mostly she is completely aware. I have never toiletted her 'regularly' and even when she gave clear signs if she didn't want to sit on the toilet I wouldn't make her. She has always used the toilet, I never bothered with a potty. She was happy to use the toilet because she watches me every time I go and already knew what it was for.

A child's toilet seat is a good idea .... part of the fear is of "falling in" because the normal seat is just too big for them to "sit" comfortably .... if that makes sense. Once they "realise" that they are not going to "fall in" then going to the toilet doesn't seem quite such a big "fear factor" deal anymore ... IYKWIM

Good luck with it all.....

Charlotte might have been day trained earlier but when Lil came I had to start from scratch..I was casually introducing the potty beforehand and did the same..I had the potty near the toilet and yep I announced when I was going and what i was doing and she loved to observe. i got her the frilly barbie undies..hearts, dots , bubbles u name it..there were quite a few accidents and I was washing clothes every day..i think the hardest part was getting her to do a poo..when I was told that would be he easiest as they have more time to sense it..but she would wait till she was in a nappy to poo. We stayed at home for a couple of weeks then started taking her out for short trips out. I have no idea what do to with overnite cause she is still soaked in the morning..
