Default when boys should/can stand to wee?

What have others with boys done about standing to wee?
DS TT using a potty and now prefers the adult toilet, but I am wondering about the whole standing thing, especially in case of emergency by the side of the road wee

I have a friend whose 5 year old still sits, so I'm not sure if there is an age, or whether stalling it is a good thing. I sort of think it is a great skill, wish I could

and I have heard about ping pong balls in the loo, but it may be accidentally flushed, so are there aiming devices?

thoughts please

I have heard that some males just sit. That's it, they just prefer it? My boys have always stood to wee as soon as their nappy was off. But as far as standing to wee in the toilet (we've never used a potty), they've done it as soon as they could reach lol. As far as aiming devices go: we use the water. It's a pretty large target and makes a cool sounds if you hit it hehehe

actually another tip I have heard is food colouring when they wee it changes colour, so makes it fun and if they are standing then they get to see it.
I think it was in one of Shannon Lush's books that I read that tip in

Liam started when he realised allt he boys at daycare were standing. i think about 3 , he still sits sometimes. and kaelin has been standing recently because i think he has been watching liam, K is 2 1/2 i havent encouraged either i started teaching them sitting so they got it in so to speak but now they do what they want. K cant quite reach so i havea little foot step in there for him.

Connor just always stood, on a stool at first. Just chuck a bit of nutri-grian in there and get them to aim at that.

My DS is four and a half and he still sits to wee. Every time we try to teach him he sort of gets stagefright and it won't come out . I was hoping he might learn it before he goes to school. Do you think it would be something other kids might tease about?

my friends son is 5 and at prep and doesn't get teased, but he wonders why he is the only one that still sits. Just personal choice I guess, but I know his parents haven't taught him or talked to him about standing up.

Same here Bron. Wish my son would stand at the toilet - not the potty - the bathroom stinks of wee as it's always all over the floor!
