Is his potty one of those that comes apart for use on the toilet? If so, then putting the seat bit on your toilet would be a good transition. That's what we did.
If not, do you have a kiddie seat for your toilet? I know Tiffany felt very insecure on the big toilet for a long time but could be encouraged if there was a special seat on it just for her. Some have handles so they've got something to hold onto other than the edge of the adult toilet seat too. We got a fold up version of the Cushie Tushie seat to take out and about, and now she doesn't need it when out and just balances on the adult seat. We still use her seat at home though for comfort. A little step at the toilet also helps make it seem not so high up and eventually they can get themselves on and off. HTH

Hi Tiffanysmummy,
Thanks for your suggestions. Our potty is just a standard one so can't be used on a toilet but i like the idea of the fold-up cushie tushie so i 'll look out for one of those. Claire |

I was going to suggest the little kiddies seat for the toilet too - at least its relatively portable (well compared to a whole potty), and then he can learn to use it at home first then start to take it with you...
Do you have any shopping centres near by with those kiddie sized toilets? Em always has to go to the toilet whenever we are at the centre that has one of those and I think its purely the novelty! sounds like he's doing great for a 2 year old boy though

Hi there,
We also have success with the Cute Tushie folding padded potty seat insert, it fits most toilets, we got ours at Big W. Best of all in my daughters opinion are the child size toilets though. We have one at shopping centre in town and we never have problems with holding on until we get home on shopping days. Have fun. Congratulations to the little man who is doing so well. cheers,

Well, I've bought a portable toilet seat thingy this morning so I'll let you know how we go. I too thought the little toilets would be a good idea - there aren't any at our local shopping centre but there are at our playgroup. When I asked if he wanted to use one though he flatly refused. I figure that as we go to playgroup every week I can take him in there each time in the hope that he will get used to them eventually.
Thanks for your help Claire |

Hooray, success. Ben has now used toilets whilst we are out both with and without his special toilet seat thingy, so it looks as if we are well on our way.
Thanks Claire |

Yay for Ben. Can he tell Katherine how easy it is? I can't wait to toss the portable potty seat - but it is better than accidents from holding on till we get home!!
cheers,
