Default Oh no!! Cloth to the rescue.

G'day, ok some may call me foolish, silly or otherwise but... I had a weekend away. The second in a row. Now I have a small stash of MCN (7 BBH bamboo, and 7magicalls) this would normally be plenty. However, after the first weekend away & a few days catching up at home by the time the next weekend came up my stash wasn't dry & I could only take 4bamboo & around 5magic alls.

Everything was going ok, until DD had several green poo nappies in a row. I literally just had them on for 30min's at a time. I had to get mum to get some 'sposes & wipes (forgot wipes!!ARRR). Well, to make matters worse, Jessica got terrible nappy rash made 100x worse by the 'sposes. But I had to use a couple at the wedding.

A lot of salt baths, between going back & forth to the wedding & wee on the tiles, her slipping over!! Arrr. Not great. The ONLY thing that seemed to be good on her bum for travelling was the bamboo (she rips the magicall's off, god bless her!! LOL).

yep, for those that guessed it she is getting her top molars.

This week I've let her have lots of nudie time, outside where if she slips it is ok & she doesn't hurt herself. Salt baths daily help to. I have also discovered my stash of holy socks & cut the toes out to make improvised babylegs... work really well for the back yard & don't cost a cent. I can't wait to get a few of the real things though.

Oops, sorry about the long post.

Yeah, I may have to get some more. However, I do manage week to week with the nappies I do have, and can always fall back on my flats. I may have to get some more BBH's while they are on sale this month, but I'm reluctant as $ is a little tight at the moment.

I still see layby as buying more nappies! Even though you pay in installments, you still end up paying the whole amount IYGWIM. I've already spent $358 on the nappies I do have & are reluctant to spend more. I think I may have to sew a few more myself & recycle some towels & polar fleece, or just use the flats I've got.... and not have two weekends away in a row again. LOL.

I am in two minds about layby options though as we are TTC No.2, so 2 in cloth. So I'm really not sure if I'll have enough for two little bums. Could anyone tell me how many cloth nappies can you get away with for a newborn & a toddler?

Well I'm going away this weekend with 2 in cloth - camping so not really the best washing facilities.
For my 2.5yo I'm packing 8 pockets and 2 night nappies and a handful of extra boosters.
For my 12 mth old, I'm taking 12 pockets and 2 night nappies with spare extra boosters. That will be to last us from Friday morning to late Sunday afternoon!

As for how many, I currently wash everyday but if we are busy and I miss a day or it rains for a fair while we need more.
When the youngest was newborn I had 30 for him alone and around the same for the elder one just so that I didn't have to wash so often.
Probably still have around the same amount and then some now as his FDC mum will only use pockets.
