Beth, i have a 20 month old bub, and she has Whizz Kidz Nightz too.

Even on my 20 month old, i don't use ALL the boosting that the nappy arrived with.

i use the trifold with the sewn on booster bit - but leave the long skinny stand alone booster out.

For your four month old you could try a few variations like this

one night, put her to bed in JUST the nappy shell and a cover (no boosters at all) - see how that goes

if that is clearly not enough, try the next time, putting her to bed in the nappy shell and JUST the long skinny booster. Hmm, it's a reasonable length - if that is too much to fit in (at four months), take it out and replace with the small booster from teh baby beehinds.

Having a "backup" of random boosters and inserts is quite useful - so you can chop and change, customise any nappy to your bub's current wetting needs.

i really like the newborn sized boosters from Sustainable Hemp Products - Australia - i got hemp ones, but nowadays they have bamboo ones too. Haven't seen anyone else making nb size ones. You can then boost a very small nappy without making it so bulky that you get leg gape.

I used to think that nb sized stuff was a waste of money, but when i had my bub, and the bigger things i had bought, intending to fold them in half, were just TOO bulky for my bub, i realised, there actually IS a darn good reason nb sized stuff is made.

we actually still use those nb sized boosters in my 20 month old's nappies too, so you don't stop using them after your bub is no longer a newie.

hth - part of MCN is experimentation, customising, trying a few things before you work out what suits YOUR bub the best, so don't worry if first attempt isn't perfect.

but when it's new to you and you're dog tired, i can understand and remember how frustrated i felt at that stage too! sleep deprivation sucks and i remember, the Early Daze of just COPING with a newborn, is very full on!!!

post some more any time, there will always be someone on this forum who will try to help you out (that's what i have found).

cheers

OUr two night nappy combos were

Initially:
Baby Beehinds Bamboo with Bamboo Boosters
plus fleece liner
plus woolies over the top (longies or soaker)

Then:
Pea Pods pocket (PUL outer, fleece inner)
stuff with bamboo trifolds
then woolies over the top
brilliant - never a leak, dry bum and easy to put together and leave
ready for DH or Mum if they were doing the night nappy/pyjamas.

Whizz Kidz Nightz are my fave night nappy, super absorbant.

My all time dream night nappy would be bamboo velour inner and bamboo fleece for the rest of the nappy

When Aiden was a big wetter, it didn't really Matter what nappy we used.. he was always drenched when he woke.. his woollies kept the sheets dry though.
Now that he's a medium pishar, we use wild child lots sometimes even without a cover and he's never saturated

For Immanuel:
Lotus Night Nappies
Fuzzi Bunz with a Super Bambooster from Nurture Nappies and a Fuzzi insert (but he's starting to wet more now so may need to stuff more.
We're onto night nappy 3 so far this evening -- 1=poo, 2=soaked and he woke up, becoming very aware, hopefully good for toilet training in a few months *gulp* 3=sposie as all the others are wet

For Zevulun:
Secret Nappy we can't mention and I'm getting really frustrated as he's had plumber's crack for a few months now and I can't obtain the next size - come on!!!!!!!!
Caterpillar Cuties Night Nappy, can't remember what it's called
