Default Loves potty, scared of the toilet

Mila is going great guns at home with the toilet training. She takes herself and has no accidents. She has even started waking up in the night to ask for the potty rather than do it in the nappy. No poos though...always asks for a nappy.

The problem is I am scared to go out without a nappy as she hates the toilet. She sees us go and she knows her wees go in there but will not sit on it. We have been out on short trips in undies though. I really want it to be a pleasant transition and not be scary for her.

Have your kids had the same problem? What did you do/use to help? I am thinking of maybe getting a stool so that her legs dont dangle.

TIA

We didnt use a potty, straight from nappy to toliet, so I dont have any personal experience, but I dont think 'toliet fear' is uncommon. The stool sounds like a really good idea. Perhaps also help dolly to role play using the toilet instead of potty - Ive heard some people having success with dolly role play. Other than that, I dont really know - but in time she will do it herself. I always took the approach of letting them work it out on their own. Goodluck.

Christian was the same although he would use the toilet when we went out.
He only started not asking for a nappy for #2's about two weeks ago and he has been using the toilet/potty since last November. Despite how frustrating it can be, I just went with the flow and let him take his time. I encouraged him to use the toilet and told him if he used the toilet for #2's he'd get a surprise like a jelly bean or something but I really do think it's up to them, they will get there when they are ready

Oh and yes I have heard that if they can sit on the toilet with their feet resting on something rather than dangling this can help. It didn't make a difference with Christian but have heard it can help so maybe try that!

Don't have any experience with the situation, but I have seen the little seats you can put on the toilet seat. makes it a smaller hole and colourful. Don't know how effective it is though.

I'm just a beginner at this toilet learning thing. But...
Last week we were at a baby store and Tate decided he wanted this thing for the toilet. He has never even wee-d on the toilet or in a potty before. So who am I to argue? We get it home and Daddy sets it up.... and Tate ends up doing 4 wees on it that night!
Now this apparatus might be suitable for your dd. It converts from a potty to steps up to the toilet, you can keep the potty part in the seat while its on the toilet or take it out so the wee goes straight into the water.
Am I making any sense? I will find a link easier
its a bit like THIS
oh, here it is!!

We just take the potty with us. I know it is another thing to carry but if it can fit under the pusher then do it.

We go for walks and up until recently I was taking a potty on our walks. Looked funny but did the trick.

Never really had an issue with transition, but we did go from having the potty in the lounge to the bathroom to the toilet & then onto the toilet.
Have you tried putting the potty in the room with the toilet? Might help with the knowledge of where it should happen, even if it's not in the toilet IYKWIM?!

Good luck, and go Mila!!!!

Tully never liked to use the toilet either but would happily use the little ones in the parenting rooms as they were more her size. Maybe try showing Mila the special little person's loo and you might have luck.

Tully still sometimes does a wee in the potty and leaves it for me to find. Nice.
