Default I'm at a loss....

I've tried everything and I'm at a loss. Felicity in the last few weeks has *finally* decided that doing wee's in the pot and /or toilet is the thing to do but will she do poo's in the toilet/potty? -Nooooooo.

I'm really over poo in her underpants.

I've tried everything and to no avail. I know it takes time and I think I've been patient but it is almost deliberate.

I will be checking, asking, putting her on the pot, reading to her whilst sitting etc etc and then the 5 mins I'm not on the ball or busy with Scott she will do it in her pants and then sometimes tell me about it, sometimes just pretend it's not there until it's mashified into her bum.

I thought at first it was due to the myriad of changes and or problems we've been facing since the beginning of the year and I just needed to be patient . We went through a stage - about a week where it was both on the pot/toilet but that quickly disappeared and we went to no wee and poo anywhere except the floor or pants and have progressed back to about three weeks of all wee's on the pot but poo's are in her pants only.

We haven't been constipated so it's not a painful experience/memory type thing.

I know I probably just need to step back and chill but it's getting to be a real pain.

Sorry, stupid rant I know but it's wearing me out.

The transition period from nappies to toilet is such a pain isn't it? For both my kids it was the opposite. Poos in the toilet but wees in pants. For DD it took probably 2 weeks before she finally did both regularly in the toilet - for DS it took a LOT longer - probably about 1 month? And even now he will still have the occasional accident of wee-ing in his pants.

Poo in pants is BLEUGH though so I can understand your frustration. Maybe she doesn't like to poo in the toilet because it takes so much longer? Anyway, I hope she gets over this period soon.

Oh, it's so wearing, isn't it, especially in winter? Emma went through a similar stage in her toilet training process.

She'll get there - but in the meantime, I totally understand your frustration!

Hmmm yes I remember the poo pants.....I was tempted to cut them off and throw them away sometimes - gross!

Eliza didn't do it much but it is very common for kids to wee in the toilet and refuse to poo in it.

Does rewarding her work? If you find her "currency" a treat, activity, toy whatever you could try. I did this briefly with Eliza at first and by 2 weeks we had stopped the reward and she was TT.

Otherwise side snapping undies? LOL!

Hugs Trish

I know where you are coming from. Eden was like that and it was totally disgusting! And he knew he was doing the wrong thing so he would run off and by the time I would catch up to him it was rank!
What worked for us was rewarding him with a sticker every time he did a poo in the toilet. After a few weeks we stopped offering him a sticker and he didn't miss them.

Oh I so feel your pain, it has taken a long time for DD to get over that, she is finally pooing in the toilet after lots of dirty knickers, mind you she never really pooed in the knickers, we just got the marks in them - like she wanted to go but held on and it was only because some of it came out we got that - sorry TMI! She will grow out of it and it sounds like a common problem, but totally not a nice one to deal with after the fact!

Thanks everyone. I thought it was just a wait situation but I was hoping for a magic solution from one of you lovely ladies.

I tried the reward thing today but I don't think it'll work cos she really doesn't care.

I'll keep trying though. She'll get it eventually I gues.
