Default Can anyone recommend a night nappy for little bubba?

I am using bamboo terry pre-folds with snappy and cover at night. In the 2 days or so DS has soaked the nappy in two hours and it has wet everything. Usually I change at about midnight and leave that nappy until the morning feed. I have used some bamboo boosters but he has soaked through those as well.

Any ideas or things that have worked for you? DS is nearly 3.5 kg and a bit long and skinny (Dad's genes, not mine!)

I find with flats and prefolds that you have to change every 2 hours if not more. That is why i didn't use them. I use cute tooshie BD

    How old is your bub?

I was using Bubblebubs Bambams on my girl for probably the first three months and would change at every feed overnight, even though the nappy wasn't necessarily soaked. Little ones wee a lot!

    Are you using wool covers?

Bub is 4 weeks old. We are using PUL covers. I am looking for a reasonably cost effective option, where I can buy about a dozen or so. Hopefully something with applix fastenings (adjustable) that are easy to dry too. Any recommendations?

you want to buy TWELVE night nappies!!! goodness!

bamboo terry trifolds + PUL covers are a great day time option, you could beef it up a little, by adding nb bamboo boosters inside the wetzone (available at www.sustainablehemproducts.com.au).

i don't know how long your baby sleeps at night, but i am guessing it's way over two hours.

for night, i would suggest a bits for bots small fleece pocket, stuffed with bamboo. THis is a waterproof pocket. Check with the owner of bits for bots about which size to get, sm or medium, to allow for the stuffing. You might need to ask for a custom, for a small. (made on request).

i'm not sure what weight range they start, but the new Mandy Mac night nappy has just been released (snappi closure). that is one size, going up to 25kgs. Check with the site owner to find out if they would fit your child - at the MandyMac website. You would need a night cover for this. either a fleece cover in night weight fleece, or a wool soaker (e.g possum pouches soaker)

they also have the Bamboo mandy macs (the MacBoo), which fit from 4kg onwards i think, another snappi-ing shut nappy, a fitted pocket that you coudl put your PUL covers over (for day use).

When James was little, I used a night nappy by Cheeky Butts. Cheeky Butts don't seem have a great reputation...they were the first MCN I purchased, and I was quite happy with the night nappy. It's a pocket nappy with a 2 sewn in soakers- one microfibre and one hemp. I also stuffed it with a bamboo fold-up booster. I got the nappy on special for about $18.00 so it was a bargain.

Now that he's a bit bigger, we use Cute Tooshies Bamboo Delights, with a fold-up bamboo booster between the nappy and wool cover. It's great! Cute Tooshies have quite a low rise so are good for smaller bubs. I'm not sure how much longer James will be able to wear it.

wow noodlemac, we're still using the cute tooshies bamboo delights (as a day nappy) on our almost two year old, she's got spare snaps to grow into and the rise is ok. you must have a lovely long giraffe baby there!

bamboo baby beehinds are what i used on miss meg - she would have been about 4kg when we started using them , otherwise it was just more regular changes, you will probbaly find at 4 weeks bubs needs to be changed atleast 2 times if not more.

i would also reccomend not to use pul at night - it doesnt hold up as well for longer times, you are better off with a fleece or wool cover. you can get applix close wool covers from a few places and fleece covers too.

NOW I understand .... so you only need about 3 heavy duty night nappies plus boosters and use something else during the day. That must be why people tend to have a variety of nappies in their stash. So is it a process of elimination based entirely on pretty pictures on websites to find what works or is there a better method? I can't really afford $$$ for nappies that leak.
