    Exclamation Nappy or no nappy.......

My darling son has recently decided that he doesn't want to wear nappies any more...... he's not quite 2 yrs old yet. This is the opportunity I took with my elder two kids to toilet train.

My issue is that he absolutely REFUSES to use either the potty or the toilet he won't even sit on either without screaming his head off

I just don't want the constant battle to keep the nappy on, but the only alternative is to let him walk around wearing nothing (and peeing/pooping wherever he happens to be standing).

He won't even wear cloth pull ups...... but he seems interested in wearing huggies pull ups (Jarred still wears pull-ups at night - but being Autistic he won't change to cloth) I've finally got almost my whole house into cloth so I really don't want to let him wear them!!!

Erin always wore sposies.... Jarred wore cloth till he was about 18mhts then went back into sposies (when my stash didn't fit anymore) Around this age with both Erin and Jarred we had similar issues with night nappies - didn't wear them during the day and didn't want to wear them at night, but being sposies we just got out the duct tape and taped them around the middle so they couldn't get them off.

Any ideas ladies?? I really don't want to go back to sposies for so many reasons and if I can't work out something else it's looking like I might have to.

Oh.............. and does anyone know a night nappy for a kid with really skinny legs but a high rise? We are currently using Sandman Nights Large size, I love them but they are getting too short in the rise but we are still using the tightest snaps (not overlapping but touching in the center).

Cant help you on the issues with not wanting to wear a nappy, sorry

I know Lotus Night Nappies (side snap) have a really good rise and as they are side snap they are good for skinny or chubba legs.

BBH now own Lotus so I think they will be bringing them out soon - I hope

sounds to me like sposies it is. I wouldn't worry too much about changing over if he wont wear the cloth and wont use the toilet. He will in his own time
Have you tried letting him pick some special undies that he 'cant get wet'?

Yep, done the undies thing.... loved them for about a day or two, put them on no issue but still wet in them. But after a few days didn't even want to wear them, it was hot so we tried the "let him go naked" thing to see if that would encourage him to use the potty. I emptied the potty a lot in that 2 days but not from him, my Autistic son decided that he didn't have to walk all the way to the toilet when there was a potty in the room

So the nappies went back on, but we have a battle nearly every time. I'm constantly having to find the nappy he has taken off and fight him to get it back on. Once I get it on, it usually stays on for a while. The thing is, he knows when he's going to go..... he's constantly coming to me saying "poo's Mummy" (he says poo's for everything - it seems to be his generic term) and I check and his nappy is dry, then a minute or so later he says it again and I check and it's totally wet, and he just about drags me to the change table to take it off.

The thing that really gets me is that he's a really smart kid!!! I've explained to him that if he uses the potty or toilet that he won't have to wear nappies, he loves the idea but when it comes time to go he just won't. I suppose this is the most frustrating part..... he know's when he needs to go.... he can hold it long enough to come and tell me that he needs to go..... but he just won't go!!!

Thanks to Bonds and their new all in one suit night nappies arn't too much problem - Aidan is very small for his age and is still wearing size 1 clothing. But I don't want to have to resort to putting him into a suit all day under his clothes just to keep his nappy on. (plus those suits are a real PITA to get on and off - once a day is enough for me thanks)
