    Default Escaping Wee

This is a bit of an odd one.

DS is kinda TTing...at night we try and get him on the potty before bed but he wont do a wee. As soon as we put a nappy on him and put him to bed he wees...

BUT...the problem is it 'escapes' straight out of the nappy, doesnt even get a chance to soak in if that makes sense, usually resulting in a wet bed and clothes. It happens 8/10 tiimes he wees.

Would it be a nappy issue (BGs) or just a force thing?

    Thanks

Does the nappy need a strip wash?

Personally I'd ditch the nappies and put him in undies. With S1 he often won't pee on demand before bed, but once he dozes off I get him up in his semi-sleep state and he'll usually do one. Then if I get the urge to get up through the night (usually the case) I take him then as well.

    We're up to 4 pee-free nights in a row!

Prior to that I was putting pull-ups on him to sleep and he was waking up with them full as they can get. I think it's just that he knows you wee in nappies - that's what they're there for.

I would be putting him in undies too.

If your worried about wet beds you can do what I did, brought 4 of those plastic bed covers and lay them down, one plastic, one sheet, one plastic, one sheet so if he has an accident it is as simple as ripping off the top one to a clean one.

As for the nappies not soaking in, sounds like a strip wash issue.

Sounds like a nappy issue to me as well. Perhaps try natural inners with some microfire (not directly onto his skin) so that the nappy can absorb faster.

Is he TT during the day?

Did a strip wash with most of my nappies a coulpe of weeks ago...maybe the leaking ones are the ones that i missed?

Not sure about undies in the bed...that just means he'll wee in the bed! Hes only started TT during the day.

Seems his big wee is not making it past the fleece inner of the pocket. I'd do what Suzanne suggested and try using a different nappy, maybe one with a more natural inner so the wee has more of a chance to be absored quickly rather than 'falling' out the edge of the nappy.
If you still want a staydry effect, velour can do a good job as the pile of the fabric is raised enough to create a drier feeling than a flatter fabric such as flannel. Of course it won't be completely stay dry tho being a natural farbic.

Hmmm does that mean I have to buy new nappies???

I have ittis that fit him, a few girly fitteds that might (home made so not sure of the inner) oh and a BBB? I am not fussed about the 'stay dry' as it might encourage him to TT quicker...and he makes me take it off him as soon as he has weed anyway.

Try the BBB's they'll do the job. If he wants it taken off right after he wee's it will be fine as is.
If you plan to use it overnight you'll probably need to boost it

Tam we have just started TT DS during the day too still with nappies in bed and when we're out. I'm not game to try jocks in the bed yet either ... although he fell asleep in my arms at nap time yesterday (doesn't happen much these days, was pretty special) and I just put him down in the bed in the nude with 3 terrys underneath! I woke him up so he didn't have a chance to wee.

Anyway, sounds like he's is doing exactly the same thing as your DS ... weeing as soon as we leave the room after we put him down at night. Some nights he'll wee twice before he goes to sleep and I have to change him both times. I'm wondering if it's because he's learning he can control it so he does the wee to get us back in there to interact with him by changing the nappy!

No advice on your leaking issues. Initially sounds like a repelling thing but that's odd if you've already done a stripwash recently.
