    Default Toilet Training

    Malakai is toilet training!!!!!

A few days ago he was having nappy off time outside and he came in to poo on the potty!!! I have never even asked him to sit on it, he just did it off his own bat.

And last night again, he was wondering around the house and sat on the potty to do a wee!!

Now this morning, he has no nappy on - for 3 hours now, and has gone to the potty 4 times!! I cant believe it! I had no idea he was ready to toilet train.

So, what do I do now?? Keep going as we are and leave him nappy off at home and nappy on when we go out? I see too many kids wet themselves when they are out when they are first troilet training cause they dont want to stop playing.

So . . . does this mean that I shouldnt buy him anymore nappies??? I bought some wool a month or so ago to knit him a new soaker. Should I still knit it?????

I would let him go without a nappy I just reminded the boys to go to the toilet, and asked them reguarly when out, and we didn't have any accidents. Just remember to take a change of clothes. I actually have more accidents NOW then when we were TT 2 years ago!

Oh and don't be sad, you can always buy more girly nappies

    Yay to Malakai! clever boy!

knit a soaker for night time or knit hom something else with the wool hehe - he may not night train as fast as he has day tt'd

I did nappy when out jocks at home ( so they got used to wearing jocks) then after a while they just didnt wear a nappy when out, theres also one wet pants/ tti'ing which are supposed to be great for tt'ing and when out n about. ( i think they are noonee wilga ones i have seen )

some ppl go the jocks all the way route and just take them to the toilet say every 30 mins when out ( i tried this with liam once he had started tt'ing and started to understand) saying that tho we never used a potty cos i didnt want to have to re teach them about the toilet, i had one of those step seat things and by the time they were a little bigger they could even put it on themselves lol.

and yes dont buy him anymore nappies! maybe buy him something special for starting tt'ing as a reward instead

We're TT here too. Like Donna E first wore jocks at home and then gradually when we went out. He's still in nappies for naps and night time just now.

We did start with the potty (I had it in the lounge room for about a year so he could get used to it!) but I also bought a little seat and a stool for the toilet and now he mostly uses that.

We're still definitely in the learning stage. Sometimes he gets carried away with playing and forgets that he needs to go. I do try to ask him when we're out (he gets cranky if I ask too much!) and I'll often say "Sit on the toilet and then we're going out".

I wasnt planning on using the potty for him. It was given to us and has been sitting in the laundry. Malakai is the one who decided thats what he was going to use. He knows that he needs to use the toilet eventually I think cause I have been putting him on the toilet for the last few months every few days.

    Well done to Malakai

Just keeping following his lead, he seems really ready! We used pull up style trainers when out and about (mostly blueberry trainers) for the first little while.

I'd still knit him some woolies, make them for over a night nappy or knit him some capris more suited to actual pants than over a nappy. Claire has started wearing her baabums longies as capri's and they look as cute as ever!

Well for the last day and a half he has gone without a nappy at home and not had a single accident. So . . . I think there is no going back now

    Yay that's great, well done!

I think cloth nappy mums are the only ones who are a little bit sad when their babies start toilet training, only because they don't get to buy any more nappies!

dd1 I did the nappy when out thing and after a couple of months realised we'd ended up going soo backwards. So since then I've just gone straight to pants and actually no accidents (luckily).
re the knitting, make some shorties or longies. Lara is TT but still loves her woolies!! The pre TT ones do need the waistband rolled over though, lol.
