Default Where to buy undies for a 20mth old?

    Hi all,
I'm having a bit of trouble trying to find undies small enough for DD, who's 20months. We're about ready to move into undies but the smallest size I can find is a size 4! Surely that can't be right??? Anyway, has anyone seen anything smaller and could tell me where? Thanks!

I've gotten some size 2/3 at Best and Less. They have a few different ones, some seem to be a larger cut than others. Haven't tried them on DD yet so not sure if they'll fit.

the tiniest ones tend to be the licensed ones, I don't know why!
Lily had several Barbie ones that were teensy tiny and no longer fit, whereas all her other size 2/3 still do.

you can order custom made (to your child's measurements) "half pints" on the noonee wilga website.

how many kilos is your DD?

i had to REALLY search for tiny knickers, when my 11.6kg DD tt-d at 26 months.

the smallest i found in normal stores, were the "Monkey bar" boy leg knickers, i think RIO makes them, saw them for sale at Best n less, size 2.

i bought size 2/3 knickers at kmart, target, best n less, big w etc, they are all STILL too big for my DD who is now 30 months old. gapey around legs.

we are also using the small size Imse Vimse organic velour trainers (11-14kg), great fit for her.
and the blueberry small trainers (that one starts at 9kg i think).

the simple simon range of cloth pocket trainers is a small make, my DD at 11.6kg was in the LARGE of that brand. (and they do come in small and medium too), find that one at twins in cloth website.

the smallest starbunz trainer might be good for your dd too. very trim design, you only stuff it if you need too, otherwise it's an aio type trainer.

best n less and big w, also sell cheap terry towelling trainers, that actually start at size ONE! they fit too, just awful for absorbency, but great for sizing (for younger toilet trained child). so they're more high waisted knickers, than trainers i think.

if you go look at the tribal baby website, they have excellent links to all sorts of sites that make/sell EC/toilet training needs, including small knickers (for much younger bubs too, like under one year old), so that's a great place to look.

i have met people who have their 7 month old baby DD in knickers (they EC), so it is possible to buy smaller knickers, just not immediately easy, when you look in the usual shops.

My DD is in the cloth trainers cos fit her, (although she is tt-d), they fit her better than the pile of knickers i bought her (with the exception of the noonee wilga half pints, which are perfect, as they were custom made ones.) We call her trainers, "knickers with insurance" LOL.

That's where I got the one's for Abby, but it was a few weeks ago now. They may be out of stock cause they have a sale on underwear atm. Haven't looked anywhere else cause we decided to hold off on toilet training till after bub is born and everything settles down a bit.

Bilbylove, DD is just over 13kgs. We use a medium blueberry. That's why I thought we shouldn't have too much trouble finding undies. what are the imse vimse like? Are they as "thick" as the blueberrys or a tighter fit? I'm guessing they are also PUL backed? I'll have to check out the other sites. I should've thought of them *slap on my head* but haven't needed to visit them for this before!

Peta73, you're probably right re: sale. Might have to scout them out after all the sales have finished and they stock up again!

Target sell size 2/3 knickers. My DD trained at 20 months and that's where I got all of her first knickers from. The licensed ones are definitely a smaller cut than the generic ones and I find the elastic firmer too, which gives less leg gape.

i bought wiggles, dorothy the dinosaur, different licensed size 2/3, and still too gapey.

the imse vimse trainers, i got the organic velour ones, you can also get woven cotton outers (white, farm print, zoo print etc). Yes there is hidden PUL layer.

i'm trying to compare the blueberry and the imse vimse. both aio style. we have the small in both. neither are trim like knickers, but both fit her well. maybe the blueberry is a bit boofier and thicker. hard to describe. i like that both have natural fibre inner and feel wet inner.

if your DD is 13kg, she would def not be in the smallest starbunz and i would completely forget simple simon.

i am surprised too , that at 13kg, she is not fitting in size 2/3 knickers at the usual stores, have you tried the Monkey bar knickers in size 2 ?

i see knickers in sizes 2/3 at lots of shops, but often you have to search for them. by the time you get to look, all the displays are a muddle, so nothing is where it SHOULD be! i suspect the smaller sizes are picked over most, cos they seem to be in the biggest mess when i look for them. I suspect many parents are pulling their hair out, trying to find small enough knickers.

but the bestnless size 1's are the smallest "easy to get" small knickers. if you are using them for knickers only, not for tt-ing (IMO).

the custom made ones by noonee wilga are very nice, price is reasonable too. they're called "half pints".

I think I'm just gonna have to stalk some of these shops. I found a Size 3 Wiggles pair of undies (which my DD would absolutely adore but that would be the issue - she wouldn't put them on but would want to carry them around instead!) today but still nothing that would do the job. I'll try a larger Target next, which has a proper Baby section attached...

Bilbylove, my main problem is not finding any 2/3 undies. I can only find Size 4. Having said that, I must admit that I'm only considering sizes that I like the colour/design of etc. Eg. Not looking at some of the licensed ones. That's undoubtedly my problem. I might take a look at the imse vimse, especially if they aren't as "boofy" (I laughed when I read that - I think that all the time!). The only thing is justifying the price when we are soooo close to not needing them! Or, I might just try and hang out a few more months! It can't hurt afterall...
