Default Not having too much success

I still like the idea of using cloth, but the last couple of days I feel like why did I want to do this again?

Terry flats with BBH covers work great on Logan. BUT, I have all these other things that don't seem to work or are plain wrong and I think I have wasted money.

I bought some Maz covers in nb that fit Logan but what to put in them? A cotton prefold doesn't last THAT long and unfortunately the covers don't go over a terry flat.

I have Booroi covers that are nice, but the outter gussets don't go around his leg tight enough and they leak.

I have tried boosting but doesn't really help, unless I'm doing something wrong wrong.

I sometimes think did I waste money buying cotton prefolds. Oh well! Nappies I can't really use. Can't even get them around Logan to snapp either even though he is in the correct weight range for the prefolds.

Try not to worry too much about wasted money right now. There's enough to worry about with a NB! If you have something that works for you right now, go with it. It happens. I know some ppl who have wasted money with disposables because some brands didn't wrk for them, it's not just cloth.

If they still don't work in a couple of weeks, sell 'em, the money's not a total loss (and think how much cheaper it'll still have been than disposables!) Oh, prefolds get a lot of use here as stuffers for pockets long after they're outgrown, as well.

I agree with Georgie, don't worry about wasted money yet The covers where the gussets aren't tight enough around his legs at the moment might be a perfect fit in a couple of weeks or so as bubby's grow so quickly. If your prefolds don't end up working will be great extra stuffers for later on or extra outside boosting for nighttime. Plus if they end up being no good at all you can always get some of your money selling them Hang in there, it'll be ok

are there any meetups/get-togethers planned in Perth soon?
sometimes talking face-to-face with other clothies can help troubleshoot issues you might be having, and give you a few more ideas to try.

perhaps try boosting your cotton prefolds with a facewasher or something else small enough to fit in the NB covers. I think I remember you saying you'd bought microfibre to make boosters? that would work too, just make sure you use a microfleece liner and it covers all the microfibre. you might need to fan out the front of the prefold a bit so that it fits around logan if he's a bit bigger.
otherwise you can always pad-fold your prefolds and lay them in the covers. (might get a bit more poo on the covers, but worth it to have another option to try.)

Only been a couple days here but I too am sorting through what works and what doesnt. Some things are just not going to work so well on some bubs. Dont despair though there are sooo many of us with little ones at the moment you will probably find us all in the trading room soon enough trying to swap our nappies around.

I just folded the front of a prefold up to add extra absorbancy and then put a Maz cover over the top which is quite snug.

The prefolds just won't do up around him lol. I will use them in pad form in the Maz covers and as inserts in the Booroi when they fit around his legs more.

I think that should be ok, not a total waste of time.

Asch is about 16 month now and we are using all the prefolds we bought for a newborn now as boosters. They are nice and neat and my partner is very comfortable laying them in.

I get butterflies looking at our NB stash. - I sneak into our wardrobe and open up the newborn stash bag every so often!

Well that was a waste of time, his week soaked right through after 30min and the Maz cover. If I add boosting it won't bloody do up. I could add microfibre I spose. I think I will stick with terry flats for now. So much more better and the wee gets held in a bit better and the jo fold is absorbant.

Maybe I should swap them for different covers or something I dunno. Or for money to buy other covers.

Sounds like the Maz NB covers are a bit too small? Have you tried folding up some microfibre wrapped in a flannel? Or If the bamboo boosters you had made up are big enough, I'd just chuck one or two of them in.

Otherwise yep get a few more BBH covers, or whichever are working best for you.

I think the Booroi covers may fit better in a few weeks once he puts a bit of fat on his legs!

try boosting between nappy and cover for a better fit ie not inside the nappy
also in terms of fabric, you can't ask cotton to do the
    absorbing job of bamboo

    it's early days yet

The covers fit great on him with a prefold in a pad but I might add some boosting and see if I can do a cover up.

I have 5 BBH PUL and 2 wool so that should be enough? They go nicely over a terry flat.

The PUL already have pilling grr!

Yeah mine pilled after the first few washes! I think you've got enough covers just with the BBH ones, you'll be surprised how quickly he grows out of the really small ones!
