WAHM Showcase Photo Gallery!

After many requests for WAHMs to show off their own personal creations, we have decided to set up this temporary forum in the Photo Gallery Area. It is temporary as we have to work out how this will affect our current advertising set up (ie as in attracting paying advertisers) and guidelines.

Note that here are the rules for posting in this forum:

WAHM/P SHOWCASE (photo) Forum

1. Only 1 thread per WAHM (paid for advertising or not) - Please only start one thread and add to it as needed.
2. Only 10 pictures allowed at one time - please ensure that the pictures are not too big - ie no bigger than 19.5kb or 320 x 240 pixels - whichever is the smaller
3. All items shown should be for your own (and your family's) personal use. This is not for the announcement of products for sale/previewing for sale - these should still go in promo's and sales..
4. Replies are OK but not about transactions or members asking the WAHM to make something for them, please use the PM system and keep it off the forums.
5. Images hosted elsewhere - It is preferred that you host pics on other sites to save this site's memory - no attachments please.

Please use general respect when posting/replying in this forum

We will be reviewing this forum and its use in the New Year.

We reserve the right to remove any thread without notification if it breaches the above rules (it is Christmas guys and there won't be that many of us on board during this period).

Oh can I clarify something?
Say I wanted to show a nappy I made for Aiden with a print I won't be selling (like a Christmas PUL I got as a gift) can I show it? Or can I only show non nappy creations as I sell nappies?

Can I just ask WAHPs to consider what they're putting in the Photo Gallery and decide for themselves as to whether what they're putting up is more advertising and therefore belongs in Promos and Sales, rather than the new forum?

hmmm I didn't ETA on my post you must have missed that bold bit.

Well, the problem is, one person may see it as advertising when another doesn't.
for instance, I would want to show a nappy for the print rather than for the nappy IYKWIM but others may see it as I am showing it off for other reasons.
I have made fitted nappies for Aiden and I only sell AIO'S so that shouldn't be a problem, but still not sure on the other.

maybe it's just safer not to post nappy pics it's not real clear cut.

Just think before you post them. Why are you posting the pictures? Is it because you want people to say oh how cute is your boy? Or is it because you want potential customers to see your boy in a cute "product". Or do you want them to praise your choice in fabrics? I think everyone here is more than capable of doing what is morally "right".

this is a great idea!

not to be nitpicky or anything... but isn't 19.5kb a bit too small a limit? most photos are going to end up being really crappy quality (or really tiny) if people are having to make them that small a file size. (most people don't know how to compress files either)

Oh this is fantastic guys...saves me the trouble of trying to put together a blog LOL...I want to show piccies of DD in her outfit but she will have my nappy on (well not mine, one I made rofl).

I think this is a fab idea if it is not abused!

I think anything under 100kb should be fine for most users. And it doesn't matter whether you're linking to the image or putting it in your post, the limit still applies

Ok I'm finished Emma's birthday outfit - made Brandon's pants - have to go to Big W this arvo in the hope I can find a bonds shirt to applique tonight (Target didn't have any). Then after the birthday stuff is out the way (tomorrow - but their birthday is Sunday) I can post Christmas outfit pics!

Carla - yes we have a dimmey's but it's crap - bot a white Bonds t-shirt from Big W for $8.50 (but I had to drive half an hour to the next town to get to Big W).

Also... Is it OK to put a link to my blog in there. The Blog has a how to on making skirts? It does mention my WAHM business but that's not the main content of the Blog. I do no sales from the blog it just mentions the WAHM business as a part of my life. I removed the Blog from the ring 'cause I was worried it may violate the ring too.

Like I said guys, we have no rules on this aside from what we've put up and we ask people to use their own judgement.

Going back to my first post - we are looking at this as a way for WAHPs to share a bit more of themselves. We ask that people do not use it as yet another opportunity to advertise their own business. Please use your own judgement as to when you think what you are showing is starting to be more advertising of what you sell.

*My* own view is that if you feel uncomfortable about it, then don't post.

Don't see why it would violate the ring; the idea of the blog ring is a place where you can post pics of your products in the making and anything you feel like and then people can choose whether or not to browse and do so at their own leisure. There's quite a few blogs that are business orientated
