ATTN Advertisers - Banner Limits

Due to the increased number of banners on Nappycino, we closed for new banners some months ago to ensure that advertisers maintained a comfortable level of ad views. Increasing the number of banners would reduce the times that your banner would be seen and would therefore mean you're paying the same amount each month but getting less for it all the time, which seemed somewhat unfair

To ensure that the same levels are kept for all banner impressions, we have been closely monitoring the number of impressions per month and, as traffic increases, we add more banners to the mix. Unfortunately this means that we now have a fairly sizeable banner waiting list and, as such, we can not wait for or give preference to former banner advertisers.

It is very important that, if you have a banner that is due to expire, you contact advertising@nappycino.com.au and advise us as soon as possible if you want to renew it. If you do not commit to renew within two weeks of the banner expiry (you'll receive an expiry email) then your banner slot will be given to the next person on the waiting list.

If there is enough demand in the future for "lower level" banners, perhaps at the bottom of the forum, then we will look into the possibility of adding these at a lower rate. In the meantime, please hold tight, get yourself on the waiting list and we will get your banner up as soon as a spot opens up for you.

I like the idea of a bottom banner section.... or even fitting 2 (slightly smaller) banners side by side on the top... to get all the waiting list people in I thought there were higher rates to get your banner seen more often?

Yep, there's higher rates, but it's not fair that a level 3 banner gets say 20,000 impressions per month in June in a pool of 50 banners and then decreases to say 15,000 impressions in a pool of 100 banners in December (if that makes sense). So we're evening them out based upon growth, so say 20,000 impressions per month in June in a poool of 50 banners and 20,000 impressions per month in December in a pool of 70 banners. Make sense? Unfortunately having two smaller banners side by side would prevent businesses from having one larger banner. It could however be done down the bottom.

There already is one, it's just not visible because there's no banners in it Because a lot of people turn it off it makes it less appealing

Not sure about beside the quick reply, that would probably look a bit annoying

some people turn all banners off anyway - I don't see any banners at all, unless I happen to view the page in IE for some reason (highly unusual, lol!)
beside the quick reply or just under the quick reply would probably mean people would see it (if they have banner viewing on) - any lower down than that and people probably wouldn't scroll down any further just to look at it.

Oh well in my opinion, based on my experience designing sites and working on useability, the bottom of the page is the only other option. There is NOTHING WORSE than banner ads cluttering up pages and flashing and stuff when you're trying to read/type... It's the quickest way to get people to either turn them off so they'll never see any, or just stop using the site in general.

I don't think it's fair to put them side by side at the top and to be honest, you probably shouldn't have more than one per screen (not per page, but what fits on a screen)...

Just want to double check that we'll be alerted when our banner is about to expire or whether we just have to know that its that time. I'm a shocker for forgetting these things but know i want to renew.

You will be sent an email when it becomes deactivated, assuming all the emails are correct.

You should be sent an email when you have approximately 10,000 impressions left, which should be a week. Either way, you will get an email, and you will have two weeks from the expiration date.

I got an email about 3 weeks ago which just said it was deactivated, that's all.
Now reading this I guess I am too late to renew it? I didn't realise there was a time limit, nothing was mentioned in the email and I put it on the backburner due to my GDUNH breakdown. Is it too late now for me?

I will discuss it with Aimee as it will be one month tomorrow that your banner expired, which is well beyond the limit, it expired 10 days before the GDUNH. As a side note, we will also be looking at a maximum term for banner advertising before you go back onto the waiting list. This will be 6mths for some levels and 12mths for others.

I didn't realise there was a limit until this thread and the accompanying email.
If it's too late I'll just have to cop it on the chin. I don't want to be jumping in ahead of anyone else.
