i wouldn't put vaseline (or any cream on a newborn for that matter - but that's me) near a babies bottom - it's a petro chemical and i think completely unneccessary
some soft fabric wipes, warm water and regular changes are what i found more than adequate for meconium good luck karen

I would prefer to put pawpaw salve that doesnt contain any petroleum on babys bum and that would help with meconium sticking (but tbh, I didnt find that an issue anyway). I have used pawpaw on occasion and not had any nappy issues.

I've used pawpaw cream when bub's bot's been red because it washes out really easily as opposed to a zinc based cream. BUT I thought pawpaw cream WAS basically vaseline with pawpaw extract in it?

Did anyone have any trouble getting the meconium off of the cloth wipes? I will be in the hospital for a while so will have to send them home with DH to wash with the nappies every couple of days.
