Trim doesn't always mean less absorbancy. It still depends on what makes up the nappy.
Lis, if the SB's are fitting well, maybe try a OV fitted pocket, stuffed to her requirement - with a girly loveybums/knitted or fleece cover?

if youre talking about two nappies with the same makeup, then the trim version will be less absorbant. There is only so much hemp/microfibre or bamboo that you could have in a trim nappy without it being bulky looking - a wider fitting crotch nappy could have more weight than the same trim style without being bulky (thick) looking.
