If the outside of the WC isn't wet then she is un-likely to feel wet as the fleece on the inside of the nappy is a stay dry lining. I am not so sure your issue is her feeling wet, rather the weeing process or simply waking at night. Perhaps she is use to the routine of feeding and changing and finds this a comfort and cant re-settled without this process??

At that age DS was wetting a BBB and sometimes an additional BBB bamboo tri fold on the outside of the nappy at night. By wetting I mean, nappy wet from front to back, every part. He however didn't wake when he felt wet so it wasn't a huge issue.

BBH wool covers are very good and can take some of the moisture from the nappy so if the nappy was wet the cover would start taking some of that on to avoid the baby feeling like they were sleeping in a puddle.

Unfortunately the more absorbent the nappy is the more layers it has therefore will be bulkier.

My boy always screamed and wanted his nappy changed whenever he wets; both day and night. I found fleece lined nappies helped but last night he took off his fleece lined nappy as soon as he wet it (he is nearly 3). For a long time he has known when he needed to go or had wet his nappy; even as a bub. We use to co-sleep so I just changed his nappy when he screamed. Now he just takes it off himself.

If her nappy is not soaked she may just like to be changed after she wees. Personally I don't think I would like to be in a nappy after I had used it. Does make it more difficult for mum; with all the changes. I found it got easier when my boy learnt to hold on for awhile. So didn't wet so often.

My girl had a urinary tract infection when she was younger. She was very unwell with high temperatures. It is always good to get them checked out but usually they are very unwell if they have a urinary tract infection so young.

Thanks Esther - it is such a COMFORT to know that another baby out there has the warning wee/poo scream! I have decided Zoe is a great candidate for EC and have just begun to have a go at it. The nappy can be soaked ...or not, but in the night is usually very wet. Just a question - after you changed your little boy - did you feed him back to sleep - i.e. did you have the change - feed - sleep - change thing going on?

I am going to get her checked for a UTI just to put my mind at ease - I don't think that's what it is, but I need to be sure.

Sorry for the delay in this response - I just lost a day and a half of my life due to 4 month vaccinations

Yes ECing would be a great idea. I had my daughter at home who has Autism so didn't try it for my boy; otherwise I might have given it a try. He mostly toilet trained himself when he was nearly 2 and a half.

About the feeding thing that is all a bit of a blur. I did feed him to go back to sleep but then some nights the only way he would sleep was on my boob the whole night. When he was 2 I lessened his feeding (he was not happy about this) and then by about 27 months I weened him completely. It was a huge relief.

When you are feeling up to it you could try other means of getting her back to sleep without feeding. We tried lots of different things and found a music box helped but sometimes only a feed helped him go back to sleep. I also gave him a dummy. I found he just liked to suck while he was sleeping. He wouldn't take the dummy at first but I kept trying and now he loves them. He is a light sleeper and often during the night I hear him sucking on his dummy or he screams because he can't find it.
