Default No more night nappies?

Hubby normally puts the nappies on Tahlia at night, and when I saw her last night the nappy was looking terrible (he's not so good at putting them on sometimes), so I took it off to redo it, and noticed there was no gather in the legs - its elastic had perished. So I put it aside to fix and got another.... same thing... and again... Bizarre... we don't have many nappies and about half have now got perished elastic... which may explain why they haven't been looking right when on, and been leaking a bit...

Anyway, as we were sorting through to try and find one, Tahlia was complaining about her nappies making it hard for her to walk - which she's said before, but I point out its just for sleeping, when she doesn't do any walking anyway.

But she kept going on about it, and said she wanted to be like me and just wear knickers to bed. So I thought why not (especially since we're now down to like only 4 nappies now!)... we'd give it a shot.... covered her bed with 2 towels just in case (she had a waterproof sheet under it), and let her go to bed without a nappy.

We decided to wake her up when we went to bed at about midnight for a wee (she was not impressed at that! but I just carried her there, she did her thing and I carried her back trying to keep her sleepyish), and at about 2am she got up to go to the toilet but did nothing. Then this morning I was tempted to wake her early to check how she was and avoid any accidents if she'd made it through, but decided to let her wake on her own. When she did, she was dry!

YAY

I don't imagine we'll be so lucky tonight, but I was so impressed with her. First go at a nappy free night and she had no accidents!

So maybe I won't bother fixing the nappies! And I was just thinkng about splurging on a nice purple fitted too

How old is she obsi?

It could be a one off but lets hope not for your sake.

You could always make up some waterproof things for her bed that sit ontop of the sheet and you just change that and replace with another. A lady used to sell them on ebay . I will go search for you.

Obsi, Miya was out of nappies for a couple of weeks before she told me she didn't want a nappy at night. I thought we'd give it a go. That was in November (she was 2 1/2)) no accidents at all - she gets up herself at night if she needs to wee but usually waits til morning

Dont write her off yet Abbi has had 2 accidents since training at night and she was barely 2 when she TT'd

We take her to the toilet at midnight and she doesnt even wake up anymore I take her nickers down to her knees while she is still in bed and then pop her on the toilet and stand her in front of me while I pull them back up and she doesnt wake

Good luck tonight!

She was 3 in October. She's been nappy free in the daytime for about 6 months I think, but since her night nappies were always quite wet, I thought she was obviously way off night training.

She does drink with dinner, which isn't much before bedtime unfortunately, and she also wants a drink on her bedside table. None of which was a problem when she was wearing nappies (and I don't like denying her drinks of water, especially on hot days), but last night I had to tell her she couldn't have her drink beside her bed until she has had a lot of practice at sleeping without a nappy.

She's got a store bought matress protector thing that is something waterproof and a layer of the thinnest terry you can imagine on top... and I was stingy and got the cot sized one, so its just under where she sleeps Which is always on her bed, and last night we put towels on that, under the sheet. I have a old terry flat sized one (waterproof with a terry inside and flannel top) I use when I have my period which we've used for her, but its a bit small and she moves around in bed.

But I've been meaning to make something like my one but bigger for her to use ontop of the sheets. I'm bidding on the ebay one, but if it goes too high I'll make her one (She loves Dora, even though she's only seen it twice LOL) I guess 2 would be good, one on and one standby

xanthia's only done 1 wee in about a fortnight, so she wears trainers to bed now. the other two became nappy free at night the way you're doing it obsi - take them to the toilet. they started to wake when they needed to go about a month or so after we started

Obsi just an add on to my post, Abbi never once had a dry night nappy and she has about 500ml of milk before bed + whatever water she has with dinner and often wakes overnight asking for booby or milk and she has been fine as I said though I do do the midnight wee with her

We do the same as Vicki with the midnight potty run. We'd only ever had one dry night nappy before we attempted it.

DH forgot to stick her on the potty earlier this week and she wet the bed - so not ready to drop that potty run yet. Still, for us, it is easier than nappies.

Cheers
A
