sometimes bree went though phases of not wanting a nappy put on. if i waited until she was distracted enough (tv) she would let me put one on her though
i think you need to decide whether you think he's ready for no nappies or not.maybe try explain to him that if he sits and the wee goes in the potty it wont make a mess? (is it the wet legs/mess he dislikes??)
is he ok with wearing them to go out as well as bed? bree doesn't mind luckily as she's not quite ready for full on no nappies.
when bree started getting n ak ed when we got home due to hot weather (her idea) i had to get the potty out and atleast try for our carpets sake. if i yelled 'no!' when she started weeing she would stop for a sec and we'd run to the potty or run it to her and plonk her on. didn't take her long to get the idea.
