Old MCNs - what to do with them?

Hi all!

Okay, so it's a while before I'll need to act on this question but it has sprung to mind this last week as I suspect that DS3 might be our last.

My stash contains purely BBH nappies and 2/3 of which have the elastic completely perished from almost 3 years of use on what is now a third child. As in the leg holes are only prevented from leaking by the cover.

So what do I do with them when they have had their day?

I was thinking of removing the plastic studs and then composting them? Maybe by putting them around the base a tree under the topsoil? I dont know?!?

The next question is the PULs - is the only choice the bin is the velcro is so bad that they can't be used any more? Or do you think someone would take them as FTGH and put new valcro on?

Same question also applies to Wool covers but I think as they are, generally, the newer side of my stash this will be less of an issue. Any suggestions?

Do you sew? You could convert them to cloth pads for yourself? Or else just rags for the house..

Someone may want to repair the velcro or even put new elastic on the BBH.

I bought some VBSN for $1, as the elastic was gone and I am going to put new elastic on. This was the only way I could start my MCN stash.

Yep there's enough ppl willing to replace elastic esp in BBH
on top of that even if the actually nappy is very worn, a couple of new boosters and voila new nappy - bc the old one can act as the 'shell' to hold the good absorbent stuff in place

covers - again someone will likely take them gratefully and fix the velcro - they can use them at home and keep their 'good new' covers for going out.
