I just put Rory to sleep in undies - on a mattress protector with a towel folded double over it, and a sheet on top.
meant for a few middle of the night changes but it was better than fighting. Ali

I'm not sure if this would be the case with Isabel, but I knwo when Catie started TTing if she wore a nappy she would use it and if she didn't she would use the toilet. Perhaps if she's really adament about it try the full-on bed protection like Ali suggested (we did the same thing when Catie insisted on wearing knickers to bed) and see what happens...?
Good luck

I feel for you, we get the same thing here. Maia went really well for about four nights in a row, and I put a towel under her etc, and she woke up dry, but the last couple of nights have been wet bed disasters. Tonight I bribed her to put a nappy on, as she is sleeping in Patrick's bed cos her mattress is still a little damp, but I feel a bit bad about that, as she is so proud of being in big girl undies.
I tried some trainers out this week from Baby Blossom, they are similarish to blueberry, but only come in white and they held one of Maia's monster wee's, so I was impressed - they are called Nap Nap Trainers I think - something like that. She should be OK in the training pants though, Maia has slept in those, but with thick woolies over the top, and if she only does 1 wee, they will wick, but the bed will stay dry cos of the woolies. I call them night time undies and tell her the wollies are just to keep her legs warm lol. I just get her onto the potty/toilet as soon as she wakes up and as long as she has done a wee before bed it seems to be OK. I sort of prefer her to be in training pants with no stay dry inner, as I figure that isn't as comfortable, so I hope that she will stop night wee'ing because of it - could just be my wishful thinking though ![]() Good luck for tonight - hopefully you have a dry bed in the morning! PS I'll email you about the card, there was a very excited boy here

Can't help with Night time undies...
But.... if she absolutely insists and you find she wakes up in a puddle in the middle of the night, a trick I use is I have two sets of sheets on the bed with a waterproof cover in between and on the bottom layer (so it goes... matress, waterproof cover, fitted sheet, flat sheet, waterproof cover, fitted sheet, flat sheet) so if you have to swiftly change sheets in the middle of the night you just whip one lot off with minimal time and fuss... and there is a fresh one underneath ready to go.

Emma is just plain lazy and has hissy fits if we try to convince her to try a night without a nappy so I'm going to have to just bite the bullet and go straight to knickers at night..... I think she'd be 17 and still wearing a nappy if I left it up to her

Hi there!
Aren't these gorgeous kids all so different. I have two points: 1. Middle of the night wetting while asleep can't be trained in my understanding of the physiology - more to do with bladder size and the develoment of the antidiuretic hormone - it doesn't kick in until a certain time. That being said, wetting upon waking up is a trainable event in that they wake up and eventually they decide they would prefer to get to the potty/toilet and not just let the wee happen (lack of nappy would be a motivating factor for some!!). 2. Both our girls have given up night nappies before being "ready" in ability, ie not weeing while asleep, both for different reasons, DD1) any nappies would have been a temptation to not try too hard with day time toiletting and DD2) I don't want to wear a night nappy I am a big girl (and I will yell and scream despite the fact that I still wee in my sleep - but hey I am not aware of doing that, I'm only aware of the wee on waking!!). So we have used pull up nappies: We use Happy Heiny pocket pull ups (hard work for Mum!! and not great for chubby legs); Honey Boy pull up with extra 2 hemp or bamboo boosters just inside (fantastic unless a rare side lying wee); Blueberry trainer with 2 bamboo [hemp not absorbent enough here] (pretty good, occasional overflow). Warning though, a pull up nappy won't be as absorbent as a night nappy, so I check them before I go to bed and change if wet (ie when no big wee before they go to bed usually). I was pleasantly surprised that when my 5yo had to go back in pull ups for a while at night due to increased wet beds upon starting school, that she requested going back to her Happy Heiny because the disposable bed time pants were too uncomfortable!!! So there is my input, cheers,

I agree with Sheree, it can't be trained. Many friends have 5 and 6 year old who still have accidents, DS is only 3 and has never wet the bed. Just depends on the child really.
Best thing is prepare as others said for a wet bed. I would send her to the toilet before bed and not too many drinks, none through the night. I still used nappies on DS for a bit, but he had been night dry for about 6 months. |

Why don't you try using a bed pad? They absorb up to 2 litres of liquid and can be easily changed at night if there is an accident (they lie on top of the sheet). These ones are the only ones I have found which use PUL, not PVC, as the waterproof layer.
I'm going to get one or 2 soon I think ,but a friend recommended this brand. She said they don't move on the bed so you only need the normal one, not the max. |

I second the bed prep option.
That or I think Jake it was, he was happy to have his jocks on, and nappy over the top lol but yeh bed prep
