Default Travelling with MCN in SouthEast Asia

We're heading to Indonesia for 3 weeks in June to visit the inlaws (DH is Indonesian)and have a bit of a holiday and I'm hoping to keep DS in cloth while we're there.

Anyone had any experience travelling in Indonesia or elsewhere in South East Asia with cloth? Any recommendations?

The worst factor will be damp weather and drying time - it's really rainy and humid there and from past experience absorbent things (like towels etc) take forever to dry and we probably won't have access to a clothesline in the sun - I expect that most drying will be indoors or on covered verandahs or balconies.

I'm thinking that pockets are the best way to go - just wondering about the inserts and thinking that microfibre would probably be the best choice to take with us? whaddya reckon?

yup id do pockets with flanny flats as inserts and microfibre.take some fleece pockets with hemp for night??
also, just pad folded flanny flats and a fleece liner layed in a fleece or pul wrap/cover.(cover prolly needs washing only when you get a poo).
all dry quick

instead of taking sets of whole pocket diapers, if you take:
- 3 PUL covers (rinse for alternate pees, wash for poos),
- 8 microfleece liners (much smaller than a whole pocket nappy),
- 8 microfibre flats (pad fold),
- and 8 small hemp flats for boosting (fold to make a mini wet-zone booster),
that will cut down on your bulk!
and gives you 2 sets of 4 diapers to allow for drying time.

So will you be choosing ones from your existing stash or buying some new ones to take with you?

As a cloth user living in a humid climate, drying indoors most of the time, I find microfibre inserts and PUL pockets dry the quickest, but so do flat nappies and trifolds. So for my pockets, the quickest drying are Peapods and Fuzzibunz.

Slowest drying is anything with more than one layer, basically! (Apart from microfibre).

So I am assuming you already know the washing machine setup etc. Cos of course that will affect things too. I've travelled in parts of Indonesia where there's no way I'd attempt cloth! I would have been handwashing in a bucket LOL.

Jacynth's idea is an interesitng one, worth considering. Though I can see that having pockets is much more convenient, just having to stuff them and stack them ready to go.
